Four get life for kidnapping, killing minor girl

A Jhenaidah court on Sunday sentenced four people to life term for their proved involvement in abduction and killing of a five-year old girl child Manira Khatun of a Jhenaidah village. The verdict was given by Jhenaidah district and session judges court judge Mohammad Nazimuddowllah. 

The convicts are Jafar Mandal, 42, son of Asalat Mandal, Shipon Biswas, 40, son of Khaibar Biswas, Mintu Munshi, 40, son of Kuddus Munshi and Nupur Khatun, 40, wife of Mazibar Mollah of village Achintyapur in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. 

Advocate Isharat Hossain Khokan, lawyer for the petitioner told Manira Khatun, a five-year daughter of Ramjan Ali of village Achintyapur in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila was allegedly abducted by a number of miscreants on July 7 of 2015.  They had demanded a handsome ransom to Ramjan Ali. When he (Ramjan Ali) had filed a case against some of the miscreants with Jhenaidah police station for abducting his daughter on July 11 next, the decomposed body of the child was found in jute plot on the next day.  An investigation officer of Jhenaidah Sadar police station on March 31 of next year had submitted chargesheet against 10 identified men and women. The court after a thorough hearing from the witnesses and accused, had awarded life imprisonment to Jafar Mandal, Shipon Biswas, Mintu Munshi, and Nupur Khatun. They were also fined for Taka 50 thousand each, otherwise to suffer another one year in the prison. Remaining six of the accused were acquitted when they were not proved guilty by the court, Advocate Isharat Hossain Khokan informed.
