Four companies fined for irregularities in Ctg

The Department of Consumer Rights has fined four companies Tk 198,000 for various crimes including selling adulterated chili powder and not having a price list in Riazuddin Bazaar and Khatunganj of Chattogram city.

On Thursday, Chattogram Divisional Office Assistant Director Md. Anichur Rahman and Assistant Director Rana Deb Nath and Assistant Director Nasreen Akhtar conducted the operation.

Nasreen Akhtar, Assistant Director of Chattogram District Office of Consumer Directorate, said that M/s Bhai Bhai Traders Tk 5,000 and BM Traders Tk 5,000 were fined for not keeping purchase vouchers and price lists.

Apart from this, M/s Abu Taher & Sons of Khatunganj were fined Tk 1 lakh 80 thousand taka for processing chili powder mixed with low quality hot pepper in an unsanitary environment.

He said that Life Care Medicine Center was fined Tk 5,000 and Nurjahan Pharmacy was fined Tk 3,000 for keeping expired medicines at WASA Junction in the city.
