The foundation stones of seven school buildings of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) have been laid by Mayor of Chattogram City Cooperation Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and MP from Chattogram-9 and Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel.
The Department of Education Engineering will develop the seven schools at a cost of Tk 14 crore 39 lakh.
The programme started with the inauguration of the foundation stone of Railway Hospital Colony City Corporation High School on Friday morning.
After that CCC Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel were informed about the various problems and possibilities of the educational institutions after visiting all the schools and inaugurating the development work.
The development activities of the Directorate of Education and Engineering at a total cost of Tk 14 crore 39 lakhs include- construction academic building with 6-storey foundation of Railway Hospital Colony City Corporation High School and Charchaktai City Corporation High School, Krishna Kumari City Corporation Girls High School and Construction of 6-storey academic building with 6-storey foundation of Patharghata MenkaCity Corporation Girls High School, Construction and dedication of 6-storey academic building with 8-storey foundation of City Corporation Girls High School, Lamabazar AAS City Corporation High School andBaluardighi City Corporation Girls High School andAparnacharan City Corporation Girls High School’s upward extension work of 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the school.
CCC Mayor Rezaul said, the government has focused on expanding our education system to build a smart Bangladesh by turning the next generation into skilled human resources. As part of this, Chattogram City Corporation as the only city corporation of Bangladesh is spreading the light of education among 65 thousand students through 88 educational institutions. As a mayor, I consider the allocation of money in the education sector not as an expense but as an investment. Because if the next generation becomes educated and skilled, the nation will advance in the construction of Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla.
Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel said that the Prime Minister is emphasizing on modernizing the education system to prepare the next generation to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution. The government is moving ahead with education as the main sector in the implementation of vision 2041.
Councillor Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni, Salimulah Bachchu, Zahur Lal Hazari, Pulak Khastgir, Rumki Sengupta, Mayor's Private Secretary Abul Hashem, Supervising Engineer Jalaluddin Chowdhury of Directorate of Education and Engineering, Executive Engineer Pradeep Kumar Sarkar, Jubo League leader Shibu Prasad Chowdhury and other leaders were also present.
