A two-day fair to unravel the profound effects of childhood wounds on adult lives titled ‘Wisdom Fair 2024’ began on the premises of Shahabuddin Park at Gulshan-2 in the capital on Thursday.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the two-day Wisdom Fair 2024 at Shahabuddin Park in Gulshan-2.

Siobhan Kerr, First Secretary of the Canadian High Commission, was present as the Chief Guest.

MajhaMajhi organised the Wisdom Fair offering a transformative journey into

the intersection of psychology and art. The fair will end on March 1.

Wisdom Fair 2024 was funded by Canada Fund for Local initiative, a project of the Canadian High Commission. The program was implemented by Majhamajhi and Moulovi Abdul Hye Memorial Trust(MAHM).

This event aims to break the chain, fostering awareness about sexual and mental trauma and offering solutions for individuals to overcome these challenges and improve their lives.

After the inauguration, Mayor Atiqul Islam, Siobhan Kerr, Md Salim Hossain, associate professor of the Department of Psychology at Dhaka University and Danny Amin from Majhamajhi participated in a panel discussion.

First Secretary Siobhan Kerr said “Even Canada has gone through times when mental health wasn’t a popular topic to discuss.”

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said “One of the main reasons for depression, stress, and anxiety is that people don't have enough parks to enjoy. We need more parks and more activities to relieve our stress and promote well-being.”

Prof Salim Hossain said “Education through a marriage of psychology and art can be a great way to explore the conversation around mental health and well-being.”

Danny Amin from the Majhamajhi said “No one likes taking advice, as such giving people much-needed information through self-explanatory art can be a meaningful way to educate.”

“Wisdom Fair combines psychology and art to demonstrate how we can express our repressed emotions,” said Danny.

There was sound therapy, magic show performing arts, generational trauma play, coffee counselling, social conditioning play, meditation & mindfulness session, live acoustic performance, Love language tests and other art installations in the fair.
