Former commissioner Moynul Haque Monju passes away

Former commissioner of Ward-75 of the erstwhile Dhaka City Corporation, Moynul Haque Monju Mallik, passed away on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at Asgar Ali Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 9:10 am. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeun.

Moynul Haque Monju was the second son of the late Azizul Haque Mallik, a noted social worker from Shariatpur district. A resident of Golapbag in Dhaka, he was widely known in the city's political and social circles for his longstanding public engagement and community service.

Hailing from Manua village in Bhedarganj upazila of Shariatpur, Monju earned a reputation for maintaining close ties with local residents and supporting various social initiatives. Friends, colleagues, and community members remembered him as a compassionate figure who worked to assist people from different walks of life.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter, three brothers, one sister, and numerous relatives, friends, and admirers. Most members of his immediate family are currently living in the United States.

According to family sources, his first funeral prayer (namaj-e-janaza) will be held after Asr at Golapbag Jame Mosque near Humayun Saheb's Rail Gate. A second janaza is scheduled after Maghrib at Tikatuli Jame Mosque.

He will be laid to rest at Tajmahal Cemetery in Mohammadpur.

His death has been met with condolences from relatives, friends, and well-wishers, who have prayed for the eternal peace of his soul and extended sympathy to his bereaved family.
