Foreign secy’s tenure extended by two years

The government has extended the tenure of Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen by two more years under a contractual appointment.

 This will be effective from December 6 or from the date of his joining, the Public Administration Ministry said in a gazette notification on Wednesday.

 Masud is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). He is the Senior Secretary of the government.

 He succeeded Md Shahidul Haque in 2019, after returning to the headquarters serving as Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations (UN) in New York.

 He also served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy and Japan.

 He studied Economics in the University of Dhaka. He obtained his MA in International Relations from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, USA.
