Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen expressed his deep condolence over the loss of lives at Atami in Shizuoka prefecture by the sudden landslide, the foreign ministry said.
The Foreign Minister also said that it is yet another manifestation of "our inadequacies in the face of the vagaries of nature, often a result of climate change."
In a message sent to Foreign Minister of Japan Motegi Toshimitsu, Dr. Momen conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the members of the bereaved families. “The people of Japan have a very special place in our hearts. We will always stand by our time-tested Japanese friends who stood by the people of Bangladesh since our War of Liberation in 1971.” Foreign Minister said.
