The recent monsoon showers have seen a very high amount of washes to take place in the low lying areas. The rivers too have swollen up quite a bit. The incidents of river erosion and embankment failures from the excess amount of water flow are so high that it is causing a lot of problems in the areas near to basins. Reports published in this daily point towards the fact that the low-lying areas of northern, northeastern and southeastern regions of the country have been flooded because of the constant downpour.

Experts have opined that the rate of rain in the monsoon may cause other low lying areas to get inundated. The startling issue in all of this is that even though Bangladesh has advanced so far ahead as to predict such predicaments before taking place, people are still suffering from these. The Bangabandhu satellite in space has been a great achievement but the solution of this age old problem has not yet been found.

The government has already taken measures to provide relief to the victims of the flood. The pre flood measures to prevent such situations from taking place should have become a staple step decades ago. As a result of these floods, life in the low lying areas falls in disarray.

The government cannot be blamed in this regard; the country has gained a momentum towards development in the past decade. But the time to solve this perennial problem in the country has come and gone. In addition to this, with the increasing climate change combined with the huge amount of 415 ppm carbon dioxide in the atmosphere the condition of habitation is only going to go south. The government should take steps to provide long-term and concrete stability in the affected regions. On a global scale the world leaders should consider stepping forth and ardently solve the climate change problem before it is too late.
