Food items have been distributed among the flood-affected families and flood-affected people in different villages of different unions of Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur every day under the directions of Murad Hasan, local MP and State Minister for Information.
It is learned that due to the increase in the water level of the river Jamuna, new areas of different unions of the upazila have been flooded and more than one and a half lakh people have been inundated. Multiple raw-paved roads are submerged in water.
In such a situation, besides the government-allocated food items, local MP and State Minister for Information Alhaj Dr. Murad Hasan MP is distributing food items in the flood-hit areas by going from house to house with the help of his own funds.
Local MP and State Minister for Information Murad Hasan MP said the relief distribution would continue.
Cash, dried food, rice-pulses, food saline, water purification tablets, baby food and cattle feed have been distributed in Satpoya, Pogaldigha Kamrabad and various places of the municipality in the flood-hit areas of the upazila.
During the distribution ceremony, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shihab Uddin Ahmed, Sakhawat Alam Mukul on behalf of the Minister of State for Information, Personal Assistant Zahid Naeem and leaders and workers of Awami League and its affiliated organisations were present.
