Flood situation further deteriorates in Jamalpur

The overall flood situation in Jamalpur district further deteriorated as water level in the river Jamuna continued to swell up more fresh areas on Wednesday.

Water Development Board sources said during the last 24 hoursof Wednesday, water level in the river Jamuna rose 12 cm and was flowing 45 cm above the red mark at Bahadurabad ghat point till 12am noon.

With the rise of water level about 37000 people in 79 villages in 24 unions under six Upazilas of the district have been affected.

According to Department of Agriculture Extension office sources, a large number of standing crops including Aush paddy, T-Aman seed bed and vegetables have been submerged by the flood water.
