Flag meeting held between BGB, BSF at Maheshpur border

Maheshpur (Jhenaidah) Correspondent: A significant flag meeting was held between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Force (BSF) at the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah, focusing on key issues such as push-in, border killings, human trafficking, and drug smuggling.

The meeting took place on Saturday (13 September) from 5 PM to 6 PM at the zero line near Benipur border in Maheshpur upazila. The 58 BGB Commander, Lt. Colonel Md Rafiqul Alam, stated that it was a courtesy meeting at the commander level between 58 BGB and 194 BSF Battalion. Ten members from each side, including staff officers, participated, with the BSF delegation led by Commandant Mugunthan.

During the discussions, both sides addressed maintaining cordial bilateral relations, preventing border killings and illegal push-ins, and strengthening efforts to combat cross-border crime including human trafficking and narcotics smuggling.

Following the meeting, members of both forces walked approximately 2 km along the zero line, expressing mutual commitment to maintaining a peaceful and cooperative relationship in the days ahead.
