Five pharmacies fined

A mobile court has fined five pharmacies and realised Tk 1,95,000 for selling expired, adulterated, sex stilling, unauthorized drugs and violating health guidelines.

The mobile court, led by Rapid Action Battalion's Executive Magistrate Anisur Rahman, fined the pharmacies during a 4 hour-long drive in the Manikganj bus stand area of the district town on Monday afternoon.

A large quantity of unauthorized Indian vaccines, Viagra, various unauthorized consumer goods, illegally imported Indian cosmetics was seized during the drive.

Company Commander of RAB-4 in Manikganj CPC-3 and Senior ASP Unu Mong said that the mobile court was conducted in collaboration with the drug administration and the Manikganj district Police.

The mobile court fined five medicine shops –50,000 Al Shefa Pharmacy, 15,000 Kamal Pharmacy, 30,000 Ibne Sina Medical Hol, 40,000 Morden Pharmacy and 60,000 Megna drugs - a total of Tk 1,95,000.

"We are conducting the drive to find out if the pharmacies are selling substandard or expired medicines unauthorized Indian vaccines, Viagra," Executive Magistrate Anisur Rahman said.

Assitant Director of Manikganj drug administration Sutana Rifat Ferdousi was present as the prosecutor in the mobile court.
