The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation against five more officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on charges of corruption and irregularities.
ACC's public relations department confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
Those against whom an investigation has been launched are: Additional Commissioner Abdul Rashid Mia, Member Lutful Azim, former Additional Director General of CIC Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, Deputy Tax Commissioner Mohammad Shihabul Islam and Joint Commissioner Md. Tarek Hasan.
Earlier, on June 29, the ACC announced its decision to investigate corruption against six NBR officials. Most of them were members of the NBR Reform Unity Council.
Three of the newly investigated individuals are members of the NBR Reform Unity Council.
NBR officials and employees protested for more than a week under the banner of this organization.
