Five people, including father and son, were killed and three others were injured in a road accident on the Jashore-Monirampur highway in Bagaritola area under Monirampur upazila of the district on Friday . Two of the deceased were identified as father Habibur Rahman and his son Tawshid Hossain, resident of Tuniaghar-Bagaritola area of the upazila in the district. The identity of the other 3 deceased could not be known immediately.
Monirampur OC Sheikh Mohammad Moniruzzaman said a Satkhira-bound Covered Van hit Habibur and Tawshid,then the Covered Van hit 7-8 shops along the road including a hotel and tea shop. lost its control at 7:30 am. At this time, the Covered Van hit three more people. Five people died on the spot and three people were injured in the incident. The driver fled after the incident. The bodies were recovered and sent to Jashore 250-bed hospital morgue.
