A court in Jamalpur sentenced five accused for train passenger murder case to life imprisonment.
On November 22, the judge of Jamalpur Special Judge’s Court Mohammad Abu Taher pronounced this verdict. The convicts are Jiban of Kishoreganj, Shipan of Gazipur, Rakib of Dhaka Mirpur, Sohel of Cumilla and Roni of Manikganj.
According to case history, on June 13, 2011, the Dhaka-bound commuter train, on its way from Dewanganj to Jamalpur, killed an unidentified youth by wrapping a towel around his neck and throwing him from the moving train to Durmuth area.
GRP police recovered the body. In this regard, ASI Nazrul Islam of Dewanganj GRP Police Station filed a murder case as the plaintiff. Prolonged investigation found evidence of the involvement of the said accused. Later, when the accused were arrested, they confessed their involvement in the murder.
