The newly-elected MP from Faridpur-1 Constituency and Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Abdur Rahman has been accorded a public reception in Faridpur.
On behalf of the district Awami League, a gold Boat weighing three and a half ‘bharis’ and the mayor also handed over a golden key to the minister as a symbol of Faridpur Municipality's development responsibility. The reception was held at Mujib Road (Alipur Mor) in the city organized by Faridpur District Awami League on Saturday after noon. District Awami League President Shamim Haque spoke at the reception and the party's General Secretary Shah Md Ishtiaq Arif, Municipal Mayor Amitabh Bose was also present there. On behalf of district Awami League, President and General Secretary handed over a symbolic gold boat to Minister Abdur Rahman. Also, the mayor gave the key to the development of the symbolic municipal council on behalf of the Faridpur Municipal Council. In this context, Faridpur District Awami League Joint General Secretary Mayor Amitabh Bose said that he (Abdur Rahman) is the meritorious son of the district, a minister of the government. So, they have entrusted the development of our municipality to him. In the speech of the chief guest, Abdur Rahman said, this reception is not for him and he has dedicated it for the people of this district.
He said that many people are creating division within the party today under the guise of Awami League, they should be identified. In order to make the party stronger, the dedicated leaders and workers of the party should be given importance. He said that the party chief encouraged those interested to become candidates to celebrate the 12th national election. He said, moneyed men had money and some of them have been elected independently. This presidium member of the party also said that those who could not win despite getting the party symbol, they lost that money to the people. Feel sorry for them. Those who have won being independent have snatched the victory with the help of money.
Abdur Rahman first came to his district Faridpur on Saturday after taking oath as a minister. Earlier in the afternoon, Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamrul Ahsan Talukder and Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Morshed Alam hosted a red carpet reception to the minister at the local Circuit House.
