Fish fries released in Navaganga River marking fisheries week

Fish fries were released in Navaganga River in Jhenaidah marking national fisheries week. A voluntary organization named Sarabangla 88 organized the programme at Debdaru point in the town on Friday morning aiming at producing of more fish and sweeping away the curse of unemployment.  

Prided over by Sarabangla 88 panel president Mehedi Masud, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Selim Reza attended the event as chief guest. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Shahin, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer  Golam Sarwar, Sarabangla 88 panel general secretary Kazi Mahbubur Rahman Runu among others were present at the programme. 

About 280 kilograms of fish fries were released during the programme.

ADC Selim Reza in his speech as the chief guest said the country has been producing surplus fish including local and high-yield varieties which have been meeting up out national protein demand throughout the year. Production of more fish including local and decaying varieties will help ensure more protein for people and strengthen the socio-economic state of the fishermen community. 

He urged upon the community people and voluntary organisa tions to motivate the people to produce more local, smaller and decaying verities.
