First Bangladeshi film in HOYTS

Acclaimed filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury-directed highly anticipated feature film titled ‘Rickshaw Girl’ has garnered international attention time again and has been screened in 52 cities across 18 states United States.

one of the big film exhibitor companies of Australia HOYTS has branches in more than 50 cities in there and New Zealand. For the first time it has picked any Bangladeshi film which is 'Rickshaw Girl' for their theatres and tickets will be sold directly from the website of 'HOYTS'. 

The film will be released on 8 June in Australia and New Zealand. The Australian-based distribution company BongOz Films that is also an associate producer of 'Rickshaw Girl’ has made this happen.

The founder of BongOz Films Tanim Mannan said, "HOYTS is quite renowned in the cinema world and is one of the largest movie exhibitor companies in Australia. This is the first time in history that a Bangladeshi movie will be hosted at HOYTS for ticket sales, which is undoubtedly a huge achievement for 'Rickshaw Girl' and Bangladeshi cinema. I would like to request everyone, especially the Bangladeshi residents of Australia, to watch the film at the cinemas". 

BongOz Films has been organising regular Bengali film screenings in Australia since 2016. So far, the company has screened 32 films from both Dhallywood and Tollywood. However, these arrangements are being made in a private screening system. Until now, tickets for Bengali movies could not be bought on the website of 'HOYTS', they had to be bought through any other ticketing website. Through the film 'Rickshaw Girl', Bengali cinema overcame this limitation and joined the mainstream commercial cinema in Qatar.

Previously, Amitabh Reza's film 'Aynabaji' gained tons of appreciation. 'Rickshaw Girl' on the other hand has gained massive exposure, bringing Amitabh Reza's work to the international limelight. 

Earlier in May, the movie 'Rickshaw Girl' was screened in 52 cities in 18 states of the United States. The states where the film has been screened are: New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Texas, Massachusetts, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Ohio, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arizona, Oregon, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, Washington, and California. 

'Rickshaw Girl' is Amitabh Raza's second film still awaiting release in Bangladesh. The plot of the film, based on the middle-grade novel of the same name by Mitali Pekins, revolves around a teenager named 'Naima; played by Novera Rahman.

The film also features stars like Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, Allen Shubro, and others. The screenplay was co-written by Naseef Faruque Amin and Sharbari Zohra Ahmed. The screenplay was co-written by Naseef Faruque Amin and Sharbari Zohra Ahmed.

'Rickshaw Girl' has received critical acclaim and won awards in various film festivals, including the Prescott Film Festival in the United States and the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival in Germany. The film is a joint production of Bangladesh and the United States; the producers are Ziauddin Adil, Faridur Reza Sagor, and Eric J. Adams.
