‘Genocide and Torture’-the first academic journal of Bangladesh on genocide and liberation war has been published on the initiative of Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum and Research Center on Torture and Liberation War.
On the occasion of the publication, the cover of the journal was uncovered on Monday (August 30) on the premises of the Genocide Museum by Professor Muntassir Mamoon, trustee of the Genocide Museum as well as the journal’s editor.
It is to be noted that there is almost no academic journal on the Liberation War of Bangladesh. With this in mind, 25 years ago the National University established the 'Liberation War Bangabandhu and Bangladesh Research Institute' in 1997.
It was established by the then Vice-Chancellor of the National University Professor Aminul Islam and Vice-Chancellor Professor Borhan Uddin Khan Jahangir with great enthusiasm. But for the first time in four years of its establishment, a lot of work related to the liberation war was done in Bangladesh.
Today, after almost two decades, the Journal ‘Genocide and Torture’ has been published from the ‘Genocide-Torture and Liberation War Research Center’, an organization of the ‘Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum’. Three issues of the journal will be published a year. The journal will also be published in English. Six articles have been published in the current issue.
