A fire has occurred at the state-owned Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Factory Limited (CUFL) in Chattogram upazila of Chattogram. It has temporarily stopped the production of fertilizer factories.
The fire occurred in the boiler of the fertilizer factory on Tuesday morning.
According to Anwara Fire Service, a unit went to the spot after the fire incident. But before we left, CUFL's own two fire trucks with the help of the factory workers were able to put out the fire after half an hour's effort.
However, CUFL sources said that the fire started in the morning due to gas leakage in the ammonia plant of the factory.
CUFL GM (Operation) Pradip Kumar Nath said, "The fire is coming under control but the extent of the damage cannot be said immediately. An investigation committee has been formed to find out the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire.
The fertilizer factory has been temporarily closed due to the fire. Production will resume after damage inspection and repair work.
