Fire guts chicken shed in Cox’s Bazar

Around 3000 chickens were burnt to death in a fire in a farm in Kalatali area of Cox's Bazar town. Two houses were also burnt. The incident happened on Thursday.

3 units of fire service and locals brought the fire under control after 3 hours. On Thursday afternoon, a fire broke out at the farm of woman entrepreneur Nayan Selima in Kalatali Gaymatoli village of Cox's Bazar municipality. At this time, 2 residential houses were also burnt to ashes. The farmer claimed that she has lost around 20 lakh Taka in the fire.

Locals said that the fire started in the farm at 3 pm on Thursday. In no time, the fire spread to 2 houses and the entire farm. On receiving the information, 3 units of Cox's Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defense reached the spot and brought the fire under control in 3 hours with the help of locals.

Chicken farmer woman entrepreneur Nayan Selina claimed that she raised chickens in the farm with a loan from Dutch Bangla Bank. The farm has been running on losses for a long time and today's fire has severely damaged it. Four sheds of her farm were gutted in the fire. About 2,500 layers of chicken, 1,000 eggs, food worth 1 lakh Tk were burnt to ashes. She claimed that the fire caused a loss of around 20 lakh Taka.

Manjur Alam, councilor of local ward number 12, said that I have given Tk 10,000 in cash to the fire-damaged homesteads. We will take special consideration of the affected firm.

Fire service officer Swab said, it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. However, although they could not tell the extent of the damage initially, the locals said that there was a loss of half a crore rupees.
