A devastating fire broke out in Senbagh upazila of Noakhali, destroying 11 shops and a wooden furniture factory, along with a warehouse.
The incident occurred early Sunday at Sebarhat Bazar. Upon receiving the alert, five units of the fire service from Senbagh, Chowmuhani, and Maijdee worked for over six and a half hours to bring the flames under control. The fire was fully extinguished by 7 AM on Sunday.
According to locals, the fire originated from a furniture factory and quickly spread to surrounding establishments. The blaze destroyed shops selling machinery, Thai aluminium products, and other goods, leaving at least 11 businesses completely burnt to ashes.
Victims estimate their total losses to be around Tk 35 crore, while the Senbagh Fire Service reported damages of around Tk 7 crore.
Md. Sabbir Hossain, a firefighter at the Senbagh Fire Station, said, “Five units worked tirelessly for about six and a half hours to control the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will be known after an investigation.”
