Police along with the local administration in Mongla have decided to slap a fine on those who come out of their houses without masks, which play a significant role in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The action came into force from Sunday after Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said that anyone found without a mask would be fined according to the law.

Mongla Thana Officer-in Charge (OC) said, “Lockdown has been relaxed in Mongla as per the government decision. However, this does not mean that the virus will not be transmitted.

On the contrary, the rate of COVID-19 infection is much higher now than before. So, maintain social distance, use masks, hand gloves, hand sanitiser and wash your hands frequently with soap.”

To protect Mongla residents from COVID-19 infection, he requested the residents to follow the administration’s instructions and guidelines via social media platform on Sunday.
