The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicks off today (Sunday) at the Al Bayt Stadium with hosts Qatar facing Ecuador in Group A. The stage is all set for the grand gala opening of the “Biggest Game on Earth” in Qatar with huge enthusiasm and festivity across the globe today.

The tournament will end on December 18 when the final will take place at Lusail Stadium. It will be the first winter edition in the history of the competition. The opening ceremony will take place at 5pm (14:00 GMT), before the Qatar-Ecuador game today.

The squads of all 32 participating nations have been announced, and the teams are all set to begin their World Cup missions. The Al Rihla, official match ball for Qatar 2022, is just the latest in a colourful story of footballs which have featured at World Cup tournaments. Al Rihla means “the journey” in Arabic, and its bold, vibrant colour is inspired by Qatar’s culture, architecture, iconic boats and flag.

This biggest game on earth

 will promote peace and

tolerance bringing people

together across boundaries,

cultures, and religions

Every four years, the World Cup is hailed as a great global unifier as this type of mega event inspires the world to unite in peace, solidarity, and fair play. This biggest game on earth will promote peace and tolerance bringing people together across boundaries, cultures, and religions as the global economy is still reeling from the pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war.

Qatar, a country of middle-east, has already been turned into a place of reunion of the world best super soccer stars as they will meet again at the World Cup matches that will take place across eight stadiums.

There is a thread that connects the three leading favourites to win the World Cup starting in Qatar today. Brazil, Argentina and holders France have been cited as the main contenders for good reason, not least because of the identity of their star players.

As the world is buzzing with World Cup fever, it has also touched Bangladesh. Most Bangladesh fans are divided by Argentina and Brazil as World Cup fever grips the country. On this occasion, we extend our best wishes to the all 32 participating nations of the world and their footballers, who are set to participate in the competition.
