Field Day on BRRI invented agro machinery held

Regional Agricultural Research Centre (RARS) in Jashore, a research wing of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BRRI) arranged a daylong Filed Day on their new machinery invented for boosting production and making the farming profitable for the farmers. The Field Day was observed at village Kothorakandi under Bandabilla union of Bagherpara on Saturday. 

Dr. Nurul Amin, Project Director of Farm Machinery Technology Development for Profitable Crop Production (FMDP) attended the inaugural session as chief guest virtually.

Facilitated by FMDP Jashore regional scientific officer Rokanuzzaman, a total of 120 farmers from Narikelbaria and Dhalgram unions participated in the field days trip.  FMDP project Director Dr. Nurul Amin in his speech said the lifestyle of the farmers was changed when they were producing crops with modern agricultural technologies, machineries, improved seeds and latest technology.

It has been boosting the production and reducing the import cost for food grains and food items from the foreign countries. The farmers should play more significant role using the technologies to strengthen their socio-economic state. 

A number of farmers including their team leader Rahat Hossain Joy when contacted said the farmers have been witnessing the standing crops like maize, mustard, lentil and wheat being cultivated applying the machineries invented by BRRI in the fields. They have been finding out the limitations, barriers and possibilities of the crops to make their farming profitable using the technologies when the government has been giving more emphasis on agriculture as well as the ever neglected farmers, Rahat Hossain Joy said.
