FICA wants players compensated by ICC for using images and videos

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Federation of International Cricketers' Association (FICA) are engaged in deliberations over commercials for the players from the use of their images and videos by the ICC. The parties have held several rounds of talks on the matter.

The main issue emerging from the talks is that international players, barring of course those from India, have empowered FICA to negotiate with ICC over the use of their images and videos by the world body for commercial purposes. The players apparently are not insisting on payments for the use of their images for promotional purposes.

"Players around the world have asked us to address several issues on their behalf relating to the use of their collective commercial rights over the past few years. We are having positive discussions with the ICC and others to make sure there is more clarity for everyone, including around global events moving forward," Tom Moffat, the CEO of the FICA, told Cricbuzz, confirming the talks.
