Jahanara Chowdhury, wife of prominent freedom fighter Majed Khan Chowdhury, has been stabbed to death at Nichopazar Chowdhurypara in Natore. The murder took place at Majed Khan Chowdhury's residence on Wednesday night.
According to the police, the thief stabbed Jahanara Chowdhury several times and broke the window and fled. Jahanara Chowdhury had 9 stab wounds on her body. Police have identified the killer Sohan (16) and launched an operation to arrest him.
According to police and family sources, Saiful Islam of Kandivita mahalla of the city used to rent Majed Chowdhury's house in Chowdhury Para of Nichabazar. He recently relocated to Salem Khan Chowdhury's house. Saiful's son Sohan knew well where Majed Khan Chowdhury's house was due to living there as a tenent. On Wednesday, the killer Sohan entered Majed Khan Chowdhury's house at some point in the day and went into hiding.
Jahanara Chowdhury woke up in the middle of the night when he entered Jahanara Chowdhury's room and snatched the gold ornaments. When he grabbed Sohan, Sohan stabbed Jahanara Chowdhury and broke the window grill and fled.
Later, at the shouts of the people of the house, the neighbors came forward and broke the grill of the window as the front door was closed. Jahanara Chowdhury was rescued and taken to Natore Sadar Hospital. She died while undergoing treatment there. Before her death, Jahanara went on to describe the murder.
Officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station Jahangir Alam said preparations were underway to file a case in connection with Jahanara's murder. Police are trying to arrest the accused Sohan.
