Opponents launched a surprise attack on the family of freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman when they blocked the road of the freedom fighter's family at Kalkini in Madaripur. Three members of the freedom fighter's family were injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. A case was registered at the police station at noon. The attack took place at noon on Wednesday.
According to the victim's family and police sources, Abdul Mannan of the same village forcibly erected a kitchen in front of the house of Mujibur Rahman, a freedom fighter of Purbashikar Mangal village in the municipal area. Iman Bepari, son of freedom fighter Mujibur, blocked the construction of the house.
Enraged by this, Mizu Bepari and Arif along with some others led by Abdul Mannan beat and injured the family members of freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman with sticks.
The injured were identified as Iman Bepari, 35, his wife Halim Begum, 65, and daughter Reba Khanam, 40. Seriously injured boy Iman is being treated at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Wife Halima Begum and daughter Reba were admitted to Kalkini Hospital. A case has been filed at Kalkini police station accusing 5-6 people of the freedom fighter's family in this incident.
Injured Iman said, "We blocked the way for Abdul Mannan in partsof his construction. Enraged, Mannan and his men attacked us. We want justice.”
When he went to contact the accused Abdul Mannan on his mobile phone, his used mobile phone was found switched off.
In this regard, Kalkini Police Station OC Shamim Hossain said, a case has been filed in the police station alleging a fight. Every effort is being made to catch the accused.
