Some of the supporters of the Boat symbolic candidate Tahjib Alam Siddiquee Somi had allegedly assaulted a freedom fighter, also an ex-deputy commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad in Harinkundu upapzila when he had denied to cast vote for Boat in the upcoming 12th national polls scheduled for January 7.
The assaulted freedom fighter Tahajuddin, 75, had organized a press conference at Musa Mia Language and IVT centre in the town on Saturday.
Assaulted freedom fighter in his written complaint in the press conference said he was staying at a local barbar’s shop at Jindermoar area in Harinakundu at about 11am of Friday. Some of the young men led by Rashidullah started abusing the elderly freedom fighter. When he (Tahajuddin) had protested, they started assaulting him mercilessly. The attackers belongs to Boat symbolic candidate Tahjib Alam Siddiquee Somi. He had filed a general diary with Harinakundu police station in this connection demanding legal steps against the miscreants liable for assaulting him.
