Cheques for DAP fertilizer subsidy have been distributed among all fertilizer dealers in Gazipur district.
On Monday (July 20) in the Bhawal Conference Room of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's Office, the Gazipur District Administration handed over cheques for the DAP fertilizer subsidy to all the fertilizer dealers in the district.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Tariqul Islam was present as the chief guest at the subsidy cheque distribution among fertilizer dealers.
Meanwhile, the government of Bangladesh has reduced the price of DAP fertilizer by Tk 9 per kg at the dealer and farmer level in the interest of environmentally friendly sustainable food security including reduction of production cost and equitable use of fertilizers.
Now the maximum retail price of DAP fertilizer at the farmer level has been reduced from Tk 25 per kg to Tk 18. On the other hand, DAP fertilizer has been reduced from Tk 23 per kg to Tk 14 at the dealer level.
The government has had to pay an additional subsidy of Tk 600 crore to reduce the price of fertilizers. Meanwhile, the government subsidizes farmers to the tune of Tk 6,000 crore every year. As part of this subsidy, 69 dealers of Gazipur district have been given a subsidy of Tk 59, 25,450.
