Ferry service on Tentulia river soon

The only means of communication between Bhola and Patuakhali district is small trawlers. The people of these two districts commute through Tentulia River at the risk of their lives. Thousands of people are suffering every day. Initiatives have been taken to launch ferry service on the Tentulia River to alleviate the suffering and improve the communication system of the two districts. The launch of the ferry service on this waterway will open new horizons in the economic development of the region, including communication. Officials of the concerned department including former Chief Whip ASM Firoz visited Kalaiya, Chandradwip and Lalmohan points of Baufal in Patuakhali of Tetulia River on Thursday afternoon. Patuakhali RHD Executive Engineer Kamrul Hasan was present at the time. Upazila Executive Officer Al-Amin, Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Mosaref Hossain Khan, Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary Anisur Rahman, Saryamani UP Chairman Anwar Hossain Bachchu, Kalaiya UP Chairman SM Faisal Ahmed and Chandradwip UP Chairman Enamul Haque, former vice-president of district Chhatra League Niaz Morshed, Chandradwip Union Juba League general secretary Siddiqur Rahman and others were also present at the programme. During the visit, ASM Firoz MP said to journalists that the launch of ferry service on this route will open new horizons in the communication system. Connections will be established with Chattogram seaport, Payra seaport and Mongla seaport. This will bring about a huge change in the region economically. It will also end the suffering of the people of Bhola and Patuakhali districts.

Chandradwip UP Chairman Enamul Haque said, ‘Chandradwip is a town isolated from the mainland of Baufal. About 20,000 people live here. Boats and trawlers are the only means of transportation between upazilas and district towns. The construction of ferry service on the Kalaiya route of Lalmohan and Baufal in Bhola will change the lives of thousands of neglected people in Chandradwip Union. Kamrul Hasan, executive engineer of district S&J, said, "The feasibility of operating the ferry has been explored." The matter will be reported to the higher authorities. The route that will be better to use, that route will be used.
