Fazlul Haque Memorial Award to be conferred today

Fazlul Haque, the pioneer of film journalism in the country and the editor of the first film magazine 'Cinema' and the director of the first children's film 'President', had passed away on October 26. A prayer and milad mahfil has been organized by the family to seek forgiveness of his departed soul.

On the death anniversary of Fazlul Haque, the 18th 'Fazlul Haque Memorial Award' 2020 will be given today, October 26, at 12 noon at Channel-i Studio. This year's award goes to film director Alamgir and film journalist Shamim Alam Dipen. The prize money is Tk 25,000 each, a letter of appreciation and a crest. Rabia Khatun, a renowned storyteller, introduced the award in 2004 in memory of the late Fazlul Haque.

Bangladesh Film Development Corporation has named one of its main auditoriums 'Fazlul Haque Memorial Auditorium' to pay homage to this talented man of film. For those interested in working in film and media, an institution called 'Fazlul Haq Institute of Media Studies' has been set up under the direct supervision of Syed Salauddin Zakir. Prominent storyteller Rabia Khatun is his wife. Eldest son Faridur Reza Sagar is a prominent children's writer and TV personality and Impress Telefilm Ltd., Managing Director of Channel-i, youngest son Farhadur Reza Prabal is a one-time popular presenter of Bangladesh Television and now Australian expatriate architect, eldest daughter Keka Ferdousi and younger daughter Mahmud Kakoli is a housewife.
