A Jhenaidah court on Sunday awarded life-term imprisonment to three people, including father and son for killing a farmer at Mandia village at Harianakundu upazila in Jhenaidah.
The court of Jhenaidah district and sessions Judges Mohammad Nazimuddowllah pronounced the verdict. The court also fined Tk 20,00 each, otherwise to suffer for another six months in the prison.
The court, however, relieved another accused Toaz Uddin when he had already died before declaration of the verdict. The life term convicts are Asadul Haque, son of Elem Mandal, Khakser Ali, son of Ali Mandal and Akhser’s son Anisur Rahman Mandal of the village.
The prosecution in brief the killer Asadul had invited the deceased Haque Ali over his cellphone on July 7 of 2014. He was hit on his head and noosed to death by a tube of bicycle. His dumped body was received from a banana orchard two days later.
Ismail Hossain, the government pleader (GP) of the court said, Rozina Khatun, wife of the victim had filed case against two named persons with Harinakundu police station.
The investigation officer (IO) of the case had submitted charge-sheet against four accused on March 1 of 2015.
