Father, son among 3 perish under train wheels

The father, his son and two other people were crushed under the wheels of speedy trains in Tangain and Chattogram in last two days. 

In Tangail, three people including a man and his child, who were walking around the rail track, were run over by a train at Analiabari in Kalihati upazila of Tangail district on Friday night.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. All of them hailed from Natore district. 

Toueb Ali, sub-inspector of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, said a bus was out of order when it reached Analiabari on Friday night.

Passengers of the bus, including the deceased, were roaming around the rail tracks.

At one stage, the trio were run over by the Nilphamari-bound ‘Chilahati Express’ train from Dhaka.

On information, railway police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Besides, in Chattogram, a 22-year-old man died as he was crushed under the wheels of a Chittagong University (CU)-bound shuttle train from port city Chattogram, in Hathazari upazila on Thursday night.

Deceased Lingkon Debnath was an employee of a pharmacy at local Chowdhuryhat and hailed from Durgabari of the same area.

Locals said the youth was crushed under the wheels of the train on his way home from work in Paschim Chhararkul Balur Dhal area on Thursday night.

In the morning, the body was found lying on a rail track and police were called, they said.

Hathazari police station’s Officer-in-Charge Gofran Ahmed said on information they visited the spot.

“As it is a concern of railway police, they also visited the spot and would investigate the matter,” he said.
