Fashion film premiered to promote local fabrics and heritage

HerNet TV, the first television in Asia for the welfare of women, premiered a fashion film on local handloom and apparel on the occasion of 50 years of Bangladesh and handloom. HerNet Magazine was also launched on the occasion.  

Honorable Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni MP attended the film screening and magazine launching program as chief guest at Gulshan Club in Dhaka on November 29.

Honorable Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Md. Atiqul Islam and Honorable State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Md. Murad Hassan MP were present special guests while BGMEA President Faruque Hassan attended the event as guest of honor.

The film "Bongokonnar Tantprem" is on presenting local fabric to the world and how it is perceived and promoted by leading ladies and designers of our country.

50 iconic leading ladies participated in the film wearing dresses designed by 25 talented local fashion designers.

BGMEA Director Barrister Shehrin Salam Oishee and Director of Giant Group Sharmeen Hassan Tithi were present at the program and honored as two of the 50 notable women.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said the documentary would play a role in making the Bangladesh’s tradition well known in the country and in the international arena by showcasing local clothes and costumes. 

It would also help to create opportunity of exporting Bangladeshi garments by linking our rich culture and heritage with fashion, he added.
