"Farmer's App" has gained popularity in Chatmohar of Pabna. Lottery winning farmers registered through the farmer's app have started giving paddy to the Chatmohar food warehouse.

During the current paddy harvesting season, all the farmers who have registered through the "Farmer's App" have automatically applied for the sale of their paddy.

A campaign was launched by the Chatmohar Upazila Food Controller's Office to register farmers through the Farmers' App. The pamphlet asked the farmers to seek the help of Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer, Entrepreneur of Municipality / Union Digital Center, Officer-in-Charge of Food Warehouse, Upazila Food Controller or District Food Controller.

Chatmohar Upazila Food Controller Shariful Islam said the target for Boro paddy collection in Chatmohar is 1,392 metric tonnes. The program was inaugurated on April 28 with the purchase of 1 tonne of paddy. 1,663 farmers of Chatmohar applied for registration through "Farmer's App". The last date of application was May 10 and farmers were selected by lottery on 11 May.

463 farmers won the lottery and now will be able to sell 3 tons of paddy each to the Govt food warehouse. Farmers are getting the opportunity to sell paddy to the government at Tk 27 per kg.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chatmohar food warehouse, said the farmers did not go to the warehouse as Eid-ul-Fitr was held soon after the inauguration. 13 tons of paddy has been collected till Sunday noon. Chatmohar Upazila Agriculture Officer AA Masum Billah said the farmers can give their own paddy in this way. The cheques will be issued in the name of the farmer. Farmers will directly benefit.

Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saikat Islam, president of the Paddy Rice Procurement Committee, said the "farmer's app" has become popular among farmers. Through this the farmer has been registered. The real farmers who have won the lottery are getting the opportunity to supply paddy to the warehouses.

“This will reduce the violence of middlemen. This is a good method. Unexpected farmer has applied for registration. In this way the farmer will benefit from the paddy in the food warehouse. Hopefully we will be able to achieve the target of paddy collection”, he added.
