Farmers, animal farm owners make profit in Chuadanga

Farmers and owners of animal farms in Chuadanga have made good profit in this sector as Chuadanga District Livestock Department and its wings have recently geared up activities in treatment of animals-birds and training programs for the farmers and owners of farms in four upazilas of the district.

According to Dr Md Sabuddin, District Livestock Officer of Chuadanga District Livestock Department, a total of 52,283 cattle, 1,62,916 birds and 372 pet animals have been given treatment in April, May and June. 

Meanwhile, this department has arranged 10 camps for treatment of different types of animals in different points of the district at free of cost during the period.

Sources said, 6,418 owners of animal farms and farmers were trained on rearing of animals in the district during the last three months. After getting training, they have applied the knowledge to produce meat, eggs and mulch of cows in the areas.

Over 26,633.20 metric tons of milk, 23,657.10 metric tons of meat and 720.091 lakh eggs have been produced in the district in April, May and June this year. 

Sohel Akram, an owner of cattle farm at village Dugdugi in Damurhuda upazila of the district said, he has been getting milk from his cows. This milk is being sold at selected shops in the district town. 

Rofiqul Islam, a farmer of Hazrahati village in Sadar Upazila of the district said, he is rearing two cows for producing beef. He thinks, it is a profitable job for him. 

Dr Md Sabuddin, District Livestock Officer of Chuadanga District Lives­tock Department, said all staff members of the department are going to farmers and owners of farms at grassroots for giving instruction about rearing of animals and birds.
