Farmer killed over land dispute in Dinajpur

A farmer was killed over land dispute at Sukhdebpur village under Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur. The murdered, Ashu Chandra Roy was resident of that village. The concerned people of Sukhdebpur (Machuapara) village under Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur district showing severe displeasure over the controversial role of law enforcing agencies to save the murderer of the farmer over land dispute. The plaintiff Nanda Rani Roy, wife of the deceased, lodged a written complaint in court but Chirirbandar Police Station authority showed indifference in filing the case.

Though the plaintiff disclosed the accused person’s name, the authority did not recorded their name in the file. The accused are of Abu Haider Liton and Mohammad Hakim. The plaintiff claimed that she was bound to be a plaintiff without mentioning the name of the accused. She claimed that a fingertip was taken to lodge the case without being read the record file in front of her.

Haresul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Chirirbandar Police Station said that the compliant was read in front of her and other witnesse, then her fingertip was taken. The allegations of abducting the names of Abu Haidar Liton and Md Hakim are not true. CID Division Investigation Officer SI Mohammad Jabirul Islam said that he is conducting the investigation according to the direction of court. The investigation has not yet received any witness’ testimony to the involvement of Abu Haidar Liton and Mohammad Hakim. If their involvement was proved in the investigation, their name will be included in the complaint.
