Farmer killed in Jibannagar

A farmer named Bablur Rahman (45) was hacked to death with a spade in broad daylight in Jibannagar of Chuadanga. The incident took place at 10:30 am on Thursday (June 18) in the middle of Gangadaspur village in Jivannagar upazila. The deceased was identified as Bablur Rahman, son of Ramzan Ali of Gangadaspur village. Police have arrested the killer Jamir Hossain (55). Detained Jamir Hossain is a neighbor of the deceased Bablur Rahman and he is mentally handicapped.

According to the villagers, Khadija Khatun, daughter of Bablur Rahman, got married on Thursday evening. Bablur Rahman was going to invite his brother Mintu Rahman, a resident of the same village, to attend his daughter's wedding at 10:30 pm. About 100 yards from the house, Jamir Hossain, son of the late Ibrahim Hossain, hit Bablur Rahman on the head with a spade in his hand. Bablur Rahman died on the spot.

Jivannagar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Khaleq said Bablur Rahman's body would be sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy after an autopsy report. The killer Zamir Uddin has been arrested. A case is being prepared in this regard.
