Shahidul Islam Akand (40), a farmer has been killed by a sharp weapon stabbed by an opponent at the Jamuna Char in Sariakandi, Bogura. The incident took place at around 7pm on Tuesday at Shanpachar Char on the banks of Jamuna River in Kornibari Union of the upazila. Two others were injured.
According to the locals, an enmity had been prevailing between two families of the same village over the possession of plot of lands for years together. Even, an altercation took place between them two weeks ago. Due to this, a fight took place on Tuesday evening at Shaanpachar Bazar. At one stage the opponent became furious and struck Shahidul on his head with shovel forcefully.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sariakandi Police Station Mohammad Al Amin said the body was recovered on Wednesday morning and sent to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College morgue.
