A farmer of Amodpur village under Bajubagha union at Bagha upazila died while harvesting paddy at his field on Saturday noon.
The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 35, son of Amir Uddin. The incident took place at about 2:00 pm at a paddy field beside his village.
Hearing the news of death of Shafiqul, family members rushed to the spot and took away the body to his home for the funeral.
Tofazzal Hossain Jannat, Chairman of Baju Bagha union, said that Shafiqul had been reaping paddy among other farmers in the field. He felt ill while carrying the bundle of paddy on his head and fell on the ground and died on the spot.
Mohsin Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagha police station, said that he heard news of the death of a farmer at the paddy field but the family members took away the body from the spot before the arrival of police on the spot. No legal measure has been taken in this connection since no one complained to the police in this connection.
