A farewell reception was given to the headmaster of Dumurtala Government Primary School of Narail Municipality, Md. Zakir Hossain Biswas, on his retirement on Thursday.
The programme was held on the school premises. It was presided over by Dumurtala School president Kazi Ismail Hossain Kajal. District Primary Education Officer Mohammad Jahangir Alom was present there as the chief guest.
Sadar Upazila Assistant Education Officer Naba Krishna Tikadar greeted Md Zakir Hossain Biswas. Municipal Councilor Anjuman Ara and others also spoke at the reception programme.
The speakers highlighted various steps taken during the tenure of headmaster Md Zakir Hossain Biswas to improve the quality of the school and students.
Later, the headmaster was taken to his Bhawakhali residence in a car with a procession from the school premises.
Md. Zakir Hossain Biswas started his working life as an assistant teacher of Mulia Government Primary School in 1991. He was promoted as the head teacher in 2004 due to his merit. He traveled to Malaysia under government management in 2016.
During his tenure at Dumurtala School for 20 consecutive years, a total of 104 students received scholarships.
