FAO Country Representative calls on DU VC

Country Representative of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of United Nations Robert D Simpson called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday at latter’s office of the university.

During the meeting they discussed about the progress of upcoming 4-day long international conference on “Climate Change and Food Security in South Asia” to be held on March 18-21, 2020 in the capital marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. President Md Abdul Hamid will inaugurate this conference as chief guest.

Robert D Simpson appraised DU VC of FAO’s involvement to conduct and hold this international conference successfully in cooperation with DU and others concerned. Professor Akhtaruzzaman said, preparatory activities of this conference are going on smoothly. Any suggestion from FAO will be accepted to improve and make this gala event a grand success, DU VC added. 

Dr Akhtaruzzaman thanked Robert D Simpson for his visit to and cooperation with DU regarding ensuing international conference on “Climate Change and Food Security in South Asia”. It may be mentioned that about 200 scientists from home and aboard are expected to participate at this international conference.
