To improve countrywide family planning service and to create awareness to stop adolescent pregnancy, a three-day-long campaign was inaugurated on Sunday (December 6). The Family Welfare Service and Publicity Week will be observed from December 6 to 8.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque formally inaugurated the campaign at a function as the chief guest at Mirpur in the capital.
MP from Dhaka-14 Aslamul Haque, secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare division of the ministry Md Ali Noor and Director General of Neport Director General of the Department of Health Dr Nasima Sultana were present at the time, among others.
Zahid Maleque said that countrywide maternity health service gradually developing with the collaborative efforts from government.
He called the prospective mothers to give birth at institutional childbirth centers to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates.
