A mobile court in Gopalganj recovered a large quantity of counterfeit medicines, unauthorized domestic and foreign hepatitis B virus vaccine and blood in bags on Tuesday afternoon.
Based on secret information, the mobile court raided a shop called "Jamuna Medical Supply" located in the underground of Shworno Tower adjacent to the central Kalibari in Gopalganj and recovered a large quantity of counterfeit medicines, unauthorized 249 pieces of domestic and foreign hepatitis-B virus vaccine and three bags of blood.
Executive Magistrate Sheikh Salauddin Dipu arrested Md Abdul Alim, a lab technician of Surjer Hashi Clinic and owner of Jamuna Medical Supplies, and sentenced him to one year imprisonment and a fine of Tk 2 lakh.
Shamim Hasan, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection Department, Maheshwar Kumar Mandal, Assistant Director of District Drug Administration Department and others were present on the occasion.
Executive Magistrate Sheikh Salauddin Dipu told the media that under the direction of Gopalganj District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana, the entire district-wide anti-adulteration drive will continue in the public interest.
