The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) has arrested a fake eye specialist named Sanjay Kumar Nath in Chandgaon of Chattogram city. He was arrested from a private organization called Bahaddarhat Modern Diagnostic Center.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Mohammad Nurul Abshar confirmed his arrest on Saturday.
According to RAB, the arrested Sanjay Kumar Nath basically passed SSC. He introduced himself as an ophthalmologist and surgeon. He also holds MBBS, MD, MEPF (USA) degrees. Thus, he had been cheating in different places of Chittagong for 16 years. Eventually RAB-7 arrested him from his private organization called Baddarhat Modern Diagnostic Center under Chandgaon police station in the city.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Md. Nurul Abshar said, “Based on secret information, I came to know that Sanjay Kumar Nath has been cheating innocent patients in the name of treatment by opening an organization called Modern Diagnostic Center. He was arrested on the basis of that information. After his arrest, Sanjay Kumar Nath admitted that he was a 'fake doctor'. A search of his chambers turned up various types of fake medical equipment.
He said that for a long time, MBBS was becoming a surgical doctor, operating on patients, fraudulently embezzling money through fake treatment of various complex diseases. He has been cheating with patients for 16 years by relocating. He has tarnished the image of professional doctor in the society.
The RAB official also said that he has been handed over to the concerned police station.
