A fake candidate has been arrested while attempting to sit the written exam for the Trainee Recruit Constable (TRC) recruitment in place of someone else in Cox’s Bazar.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning at the Uttaran Model School and College exam centre in Sadar Upazila.
The impersonator, Muhid Al Kader (20), is the son of Shah Yunus from Gojghona in Ukhiya. He was appearing on behalf of the actual candidate, Sakibul Hasan, son of Abdur Razzak from Koyarbill, Kutubdia.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Media Focal Point) Md Jasim Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the incident. He said that during routine ID and face verification before the exam, discrepancies were found in the candidate’s photo and details. Upon questioning, Muhid admitted to being a proxy.
Police recovered the original candidate’s admit card and Tk 10,000 in cash from him. Legal proceedings are currently underway against the arrested individual.
