Members of the ‘Sarbohara Party’ have demanded Tk 50 thousand to Tk. 50 lakh over mobile phones from 10 top government officials of Jashore district, including
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jashore, superintendent of police (SP) and civil surgeon.
Civil Surgeon Sheikh Abu Shaheen filed a general diary with Jashore Kotwali Police Station in this connection on Thursday evening.
Sheikh Abu Shaheen said, “At 1.50 pm, a call came to my mobile phone from an unknown number. It was told from opposite side-- We have to need huge money to release our some activists from the jail. We need 50 thousand taka for this purpose. If you don't give money, your wife and children will be killed.”
He said, “I informed the matter to the police super. I have filed a GD with Jashore Kotwali police station in this incident.”
“Like me, Keshabpur, Chougachha and Sadar Upazila health officials have also been asked to pay various amounts. We are a little apprehensive about it.” Civil surgeon added.
Deputy Commissioner 9DC) Mohammad Tamizul Islam Khan, Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Ashraf Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Mohammad Rafiqul Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ahmed Ziaur Rahman, Jashore Sadar Upazila Health Officer Mir Abu ,Chougachha Upazila Health Officer Lutfun Nahar and Keshabpur Upazila Health Officer Moha mmad Alamgir have also been similarly demanded 50 thousand to 50 Lakh.
The extremists sending SMS to the mobile number of another officers, the money has been demanded.
Deputy Commissioner Tamizul Islam Khan said, “A message came to my official Mobile Phone from unknown number around 1.40 PM. It says, “Give me 50 lakh taka, otherwise your family members will be killed.”
There are some mobile banking numbers including bKash numbers over SMS.The matter has been informed to the Superintendent of Police DC added.
Jashore Superintendent of Police Muhammad Ashraf Hossain said that there is no party in Bangladesh in the name of Sarbohara Party.
This Party have been exhausted long ago. They are some of terrorist or extortionist group.
The matter is not so serious. Even then, we are investigating this matter, SP added.
