Expert team visits Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park project site at CU

An expert team led by Hosne Ara Begum, managing director (secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Authority, visited the site of the proposed Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park on the Chittagong University (CU) campus on Saturday. The team later paid a courtesy call on CU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhtar and exchanged views at the latter’s office to give necessary instructions to start construction of the high-tech park.

The other members of the delegation were ANM Shafiqul Islam, Director (Joint-Secretary), Finance and Administration Department, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Authority, Syed Zahurul Islam, Joint-Secretary, Md. Mostafa Kamal, Joint Secretary, Khadija Akter, Deputy Director, Finance and Administration Department.  Narottam Pal, Deputy Director, Operations and Maintenance, and Shahriar Al Hasan, Assistant Director (Investment).

Besides, CU Syndicate member Prof Dr Kazi SM Khasrul Alam Quddusi, CU Syndicate member and Dean of Science Faculty Prof Dr  Mohammad Nasim Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof Dr Rashed Mostafa, President of CU Teachers Association Prof Md. Emdadul Haque, General Secretary Manjurul Alam, Registrar (Acting) Prof SM Monirul Hasan, College Inspector (Acting) Prof Dr Shyamal Ranjak,  Director Prof Dr Mohammad Abul Hossain, Prof Benu Kumar Dey of Chemistry Department, Prof Dr Nasir Uddin (Rahman Nasir Uddin) of Anthropology Department, ICT Cell Director Prof Dr Mohammad Khairul Islam, Proctor (Acting) Dr Md. Atiqur Rahman and Assistant Proctor  Arup Barua, Chief Engineer Abu Saeed Hossain, Accounts Controller (Acting) Md. Faridul Alam Chowdhury, Deputy Registrar of Estate Branch Mahbub Harun Chowdhury and other concerned officials participated.

VC Shirin Akhtar said that in order to strengthen their position with the modern world, it is very important for the students to acquire skills in academic education as well as information and communication technology. 

Therefore, if the proposed Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park is built on the CU campus, students will be able to enrich their knowledge on information technology as well as huge employment opportunities will be created in the region, she added. 

The VC sought cooperation from the team to start the project immediately.

The members of the expert team appreciated the steps taken by the CU for the construction of Hi-Tech Park and expressed their firm commitment to take all possible initiatives and provide all possible facilities for the construction of this Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park within the shortest possible time.
