Libyan Charge d'Affaires to Bangladesh Rahoumah M R Yahy paid a courtesy call on Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad on Sunday.
The meeting was held at the minister's office on Sunday, according to a press release sent to the media.
During the meeting, they discussed the issues of signing a Memorandum of Understanding on the recruitment of workers, the situation of the Libyan labor market and the friendly relation between the two countries. They also talked about ensuring safe migration, prevention of human trafficking, and discouragement of irregular migration. The Libyan Charge d'Affaires thanked the Bangladesh government for lifting the ban on sending workers to Libya.
He said, “The role of Bangladeshi workers in the development of Libya deserves high praise. The current Libyan government has undertaken extensive development programmes.”
He hoped that Bangladeshi workers would play a fruitful role in moving the wheel of the Libyan economy.
He also mentioned that the Libyan government is committed to protecting the rights of foreign workers.
Secretary of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Dr Ahmed Munirus Salehin, Additional Secretary Md Abdul Quader and Labor Attache of the Libyan Embassy Abdul Aziz AK Zoha was also present during this time.
